Austin, Google, and IT of the Year

My annual trip to Austin for the Texas Computer Educators Association conference was particularly special as I was invited to attend an event at Google headquarters, and I won IT of the Year for Texas!

My teammate, Teresa, and I arrived in Austin early and enjoyed dinner before a busy day at Google on Monday.

On Monday we headed to Google headquarters to learn all about the latest and greatest stuff from Google. I’d tell you all about it…but they made me sign a non-disclosure agreement (sorry)! I definitely want to work at Google. Sigh.

Tuesday I was on pins and needles as I waited to find out if I’d won IT of the Year! I was thrilled when they called my name! It was really humbling and validating after 10 years of really busting my butt at my job! My friend Dr. Beaird was a finalist for Principal of the Year.

The rest of the week was classes, sessions, and Starbucks to keep me going! I even got to sit right up front during Bill Nye’s keynote.

When I got home…Tony had a wonderful surprise for me!
